July 28th-31st, Taos, NM

AMTA-NM at the NM Academy of Family Physicians Conference

AMTA-NM will represent the profession and it’s members at the 59th annual New Mexico Academy of Family Physicians (NMAFP) Conference at the Sagebrush Inn & Suites, Taos, NM from July 28th to 31st. Members of your chapter will attend this event to network with the physicians, as they have for many years. We’ll be discussing the importance of massage therapy as part of patient treatment and presenting the latest research. The physicians come from around the state to receive their CEUs and hear the latest in medical standards of care. We will be providing chair massage samples to the conference attendees, so that they can get a taste of the benefits of massage. But the real focus of this event is education. We will be promoting AMTA’s Find a Massage Therapist locator service and handing out the website address. The physicians often inquire where they can find a good therapist in their town – we are there to direct them to our AMTA members! This is an important event to give further validity to our work in the eyes of the mainstream healthcare disciplines.  And to increase referrals to massage therapists.

Breakfast and lunch are provided by the NMAFP.

AMTA-NM Southern Education PNMT for the Low Back

$80.00 – 8CEU’s

In Precision Neuromuscular Therapy (PNMT) for the Low Back seminar (8 CEU), you will learn how to efficiently evaluate and treat people with various types of back pain involving the lumbar area. In order to accomplish this, you will learn to clearly identify the anatomical landmarks necessary for great palpation, identify and address the correct soft tissue structures that affect the stated pain pattern, and review how these soft tissue restrictions are tied to movement and everyday complaints. CLICK HERE to see a preview of the course work.

The course will be taught by Christopher Sovereign who has been an AMTA-NM member for over 20 years and   has over 30 years experience as a professional massage therapist (NM lic. # 923). Christopher is currently running a successful medical massage clinic in Albuquerque since 1993. Mr. Sovereign added an additional office in Santa Fe, NM in 2009. The clinics focus on helping to solve soft tissue pain and injury problems.

Christopher brings a wealth of clinical and teaching experience to the staff of PNMT, having taught in 16 states since 1999 and at the 2012 AMTA national Convention. Since 1999, Christopher Sovereign has taught more than a thousand students in over 16 states, helping them be better massage therapists.
